Position: Supervisor – Health & Safety and Security
General Overview of Responsibilities
- To act in accordance with the company’s emergency response procedure in case of fire or any other emergencies.
- To respond to incidents, such as fire, injuries, spills, and natural disasters, and assess the situation and the level of response required.
- To report to Superior any damage to premises, building, equipment, etc., reported by his direct subordinates.
- To communicate with emergency services and other bodies in the event of an emergency.
- To report any emergency situation as well as to ensure that corrective action is taken in order to safeguard personnel as well as operations, and others who might be at risk.
- To ensure that emergency escape and other routes of escape are always unobstructed.
- To roster employees for each facility as necessary.
- To process all leave requests as per internal procedures.
- To ensure all detection and activation emergency and security systems, such as control access system, thermal cameras and alarms are working properly and report any malfunctions to Superior as soon as possible.
- To participate in emergency drills.
- To ensure a high quality/standard of work and service throughout the security shift.
- To ensure constant compliance with the Company’s safety and security rules.
- To perform scheduled patrols and inspections, as well as randomly inspect buildings premises, plant and perimeter.
- To ensure working tools such as radios, mobile phone, CCTV monitors, landline and/or any electronic tools, and equipment devices for the performance of security tasks are in working condition and readily available.
- To coordinate and attend the regular security and safety meetings carried out throughout the year.
- To grant work permits to employees, contractors, etc.
- To give induction training to employees and contractors, as necessary.
- To revise and pass on security reports to superior.
- To follow all applicable WasteServ’s official quality, environmental and health & safety policies and procedures.
- To perform security and safety inspections and accompany security officers in providing good service to the company.
- To assist the Coordinating Officer – Security, as may be required.
- To perform any duties which may be assigned from time to time in accordance with the nature of this job.
- To perform any duties as deemed fit by the company's exigencies.
- Attend all obligatory training required by the company to fulfil the role whilst obtaining the relevant knowledge, skills and techniques.
Emergency response, Safety & Security Team Leader is responsible and accountable for:
- Ensuring that Handover Sheet is done.
- Ensuring the vehicles' checklist is done.
- Ensuring work permits are granted to any works at any WasteServ Facility.
- Ensuring SHS inspections are done, and any issue is tackled by respective OBU.
- Ensuring keys and other tools and devices are completed.
- Ensuring all items and equipment inventory is readily available.
must be willing to rotate sites when required.
Eligibility Criteria
The selected candidates must:
- Be in possession of MQF Level 3 (3 O’levels – Grades 1-5) and 2 years related work experience
OR

- Be in possession of a School Leaving Certificate and 5 years related work experience
(a copy of the School Leaving Certificate must be provided with the application).
- Be willing to successfully complete the Fire, Health and Safety training at MQF level 3 and Advanced Fire Fighting Training offered by WasteServ Malta Ltd during the probation period.
- Own a valid Heavy Plant Equipment Certificate such as Telehandler, Wheel Loader, Material Handler, forklift and other machinery is considered as an asset. If not, the selected candidates must be willing to attend compulsory training, following the acceptance of the Job Offer.
- Have good communication skills (written and spoken) (A simple test will be carried out during the Interview).
- Be computer literate and proficient in common software packages (A simple test will be carried out during the Interview).
- Candidate must be physically fit to work at height, and in confined spaces.
- Candidates will be subjected to a fit for work.
- Must have a Valid & Clean Police Conduct (A Copy of must be presented with the application).
- Have a valid Driving License B (A Copy of must be presented with the application).
- Having a valid Driving License C shall be considered an asset. If not, the selected candidates must be willing to attend compulsory training, following the acceptance of the Job Offer.
- Have supervisory and customer care skills
- Have good leadership skills.
- Have a disciplined approach towards safe environment and safe working practices and a drive towards continuous improvement.
- Having a recognised certificate in health and safety would be considered an asset.
