In line with Malta’s sustainable environmental and waste management strategy, WasteServ seeks to provide a national service through its waste recovery and treatment operations carried out at the Sant’ Antnin Waste Treatment Plant (SAWTP), in Marsaskala. The facility accepts glass waste for automated sorting, as well as recyclable waste for manual sorting and baling, together with permitted non-hazardous waste for temporary storage. WasteServ’s critical objectives are to achieve and enhance customer satisfaction, protect the environment, promote circular economy and prevent work-related injury and ill-health whilst providing a reliable yet environmentally aligned waste management services to waste carriers, producers and brokers.
Through its operations at Sant’ Antnin Waste Treatment Plant and the various supporting branches, WasteServ will strive to:
- Comply with Environmental Permit EP 00260/24, relevant legislation and applicable requirements;
- Maintain efficient operational performance;
- Attain positive feedback from waste carriers, producers and brokers;
- Minimise complaints from interested parties;
- Prevent/ reduce waste from going to landfill;
- Prevent pollution to the environment;
- Develop and maintain a competent workforce capable of delivering safe, complaint and professional services;
- Promote best working practices at all levels, including visitors and contractors;
- Reduce/eliminate hazards and health and safety risks;
- Promote the consultation and participation between employees and/or workers' representative on health and safety matters.
The status of the objectives is reviewed every three months and discussed in Management Review Meetings when applicable. To implement this policy, we have adopted an integrated management system based on the requirements of ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018.
We are committed to continually improve our management system and its effectiveness constantly and repeatedly through established mechanisms. This policy shall be communicated to, and understood by, all personnel within the organisation. We will also communicate this policy to the public, and all visitors and contractors at the facility.
This Policy is reviewed on a yearly basis to ensure that our focus on customer requirements, environmental preservation and health & safety standards are maintained, and that the measures of our promise to our customers are achieved.
