WasteServ publishes the Pre-qualification questionnaire (PQQ) for the Waste-to-Energy plant

WasteServ published the pre-qualification questionnaire (PQQ) in relation to Malta’s Waste-to-Energy project. Interested candidates are requested to provide information on their financial and economic standing, experience, and competence for the completion of this multimillion-euro contract for the design, construction and operation of the facility.

This facility will be converting, into green energy, waste that cannot be recycled and will form part of the ECOHIVE complex joining other state of the art facilities intended to turn all waste into resources.

Minister Miriam Dalli outlined her determination to deliver the project in the shortest possible timeframe. She explained how the ‘Government through this plant intends to start converting non-recyclable waste into energy as soon as possible, facilitating the country’s transition to a circular economy and green energy generation’.

Interested Candidates now have until 31 May 2022 09:30 CEST to submit the PQQ. Once the short-listing process of the PQQ is carried out, the first five ranked economic operators will be short-listed and receive an Invitation to Tender (ITT).

CEO Richard Bilocca explained how ‘ground preparation works for the Waste-to-Energy project are on track and the required excavations are due to start in a few weeks.’ This follows the granting of full development permits for these activities and the conclusion and approval of the Environmental Impact Studies.

Interested candidates can view the PQQ on WasteServ’s website and on the Official Journal of the EU, once this is uploaded in the coming hours.
