A tender for rock excavation works to form an engineered Landfill within the existing footprint of WasteServ’s ECOHIVE Complex has been issued.
An estimated quantity of 530,000 cubic metres of rock is expected to be excavated. The contract will be awarded to the tenderer submitting the cheapest priced offer satisfying the administrative and technical criteria as detailed in the tender document. Works are to be strictly undertaken over a period of nine (9) months.
In order to allow potential bidders to better understand the nature of the works, the tender document also includes a geological report including information on the type of rock present.
Bids can be submitted until 28 July 2020, 09:30.
Another tender for the construction of vertical walls and specialised liners will be issued in the coming weeks and this is to ensure that the landfill adheres to the highest environmental standards.
WasteServ is currently implementing a number of projects that together with the revised waste management policy to be issued by the Ministry for the Environment, Climate Change and Planning, will allow Malta to move to a circular economy approach.
