Design of Reuse Centres which are to open later this year, revealed

Work on the four Reuse Centres which will be opening at the Civic Amenity Sites in Ħal Luqa, Ħal Far, Mrieħel, and Tal-Kus in Gozo is moving at a steady pace. The design of these centres, which will offer used and ‘pre-loved’ items that still hold value and can be reused, such as ceramics, toys, books, and loose furniture, was unveiled today.

Minister for the Environment, Climate Change and Planning Aaron Farrugia visited the Civic Amenity Site in Ħal Luqa where he was able to view some of the items that will be available in these centres.

Minister Farrugia said that this project is one of the most effective ways to reduce our impact on the environment. He said that even the thought behind these centres is sustainable in that it will continue building on the concept of a circular economy.

WasteServ CEO Richard Bilocca said that through these centres, WasteServ will prevent waste by promoting the reusage of items that are still in good condition. He said that these centres will allow us to make more responsible consumption choices and to also be more creative as they will encourage DIY projects through which new things can be created from items or materials found at these centres in a cost-effective way.

These centres will start opening by the end of the year.
