WasteServ today issued a call for tenders, worth an estimated €125 million, for the provision of labour hire services for its 900 employees, including salaries, allowances and bonuses.   

The contract, which also includes the provider’s basic service fee, will be awarded through a competitive tendering process.   

The tender documentation was finalised in early 2025; however, the process was paused pending direction from the Department of Contracts, within the Finance Ministry, which was carrying out a government-wide exercise to ensure that the principle of equal pay for equal work was applied consistently across the public sector.   

Until the award of the new tender, WasteServ will enter into a temporary agreement with the existing contractor to ensure employees continue to receive their salaries without disruption and that critical national waste management operations continue uninterrupted.   

This interim contract, valued at €57.3 million, is for a maximum of 18 months. It will be terminated once the competitive tendering process is concluded and a new contract is awarded.
